Apple iPhone 4 officially announced
Today at the WWDC Steve Jobs announced the new Apple iPhone 4 and iOS 4 (yea, they changed the name of the operating system from iPhone OS 4 to just iOS4). It was all in all a good presentation despite being riddled with cracks at Google. Perhaps signs they’re afraid of a possible Android uprising? However, judging by the specs on this new phone they don’t have much to fear.

The main new features are:
- New “Retina display” at 960x640 / 326ppi which according to Apple is beyond the human eye’s limit of distinction.
- Custom developed hardened glass screen that is 30x harder than plastic
- True Multi-Tasking (finally)
- A4 Processor (same as in the iPad)
- 25% thinner body (Job’s claims it’s the thinnest smart phone in existence)
- larger battery (7 hours 3G talk, 6 hours 3G web, 10 hours video, 40 hours music)
- 802.11n WiFi upgraded from g
- 5 megapixels still camera / 5X digital zoom and a “backside illuminated sensor” (supposedly allows for far better low-light shots)
- HD Video camera captures up to 720p @ 30fps
- 3 axis gyroscope (used in conjunction with the accelerometer to provide “6 axis motion control”)
- New iMovie app for iPhone ($4.99) allows video editing directly on the phone
